Gearz National Update/ Reunion

Too see what this is all about go to "Gearz National" blog and "What do you guys think of this"

Here's my two cents I added (started this new update to keep topic fresh)

Very good points. Really there is not a need for a club in a club I ditto that; just makes us more political. As far as an event goes my ORIGINAL idea I was going to hatch was more along the lines of a "family"reunion. No need for sponsors, insurance or any of that. Just keep it Grass Roots like this site already is. I was thinking getting booking at a National park such as Lake Cumberland in Kentucky (a central area) they have cabins and suites and resteraunt, fishing and lots of road way. just have to book well in advance.

For this I believe we can plan, organize and initiate with out any help from Gearz or Rattle Trap Productions, We are just a buch of friends getting together. We would want Staceys blessings though in order to orchrastrate and plan this through this site and as a "Gearz" Reunion. If any leagal beagals wanna stab at that I would love to hear the in's and out's.

I liked the idea of a daily driver car show/ club ala GearZ and Stacey. I would still go hang out at a national park if ya'll were there too. I guess either way I'm good, but a GearZ club can be as involved or uninvolved as people want it to be.

Plus, a GearZ car show/ club would be a great venue for Stacey to pull out projects like "Copperhead" and "Sgt Rock." I'd even pay admission fees or lot fees for something like that.

He could still grace us with his presence , as far as the club I see the point that we already are a club, that does not mean we couldn't talk Stacey into Jackets, hats or t-shirts for members of the Gearz brotherhood.

You got some great ideas, it would be cool to have one big get together every year...could you imagine seeing these wild custom rides all in one place! And the ideas and stories that a group of gearheadz could come up with would be wild....sounds very interesting!

ZZCowboy's picture

Yeh, I am not really thinking along the line of a car show, like you said monsterz a great big get together for the Gearz Brotherhood (including the female gearheads). That way we don't need sponsors, and insurance (other than personal auto). We could swap stories and parts and I guess if everyone wanted too we could have four or five trophy catagories, but truthfully there are plenty of car shows for that so I really don't see the need for competition. I think the emphesis should be on education and learning new stuff. Hey thats an Idea! Maybe a few of the guys could do a demonstration of some sort. Like Alvin could show us his paint technique. More than anything I think most of us would like to have the opportunity to meet and see each others rides!

This hole idea is a way to have a big all in the family get together, with good freinds to share thoughts & ideas, and ways to keep our rides on display for everyone to see. Lets keep it rolling.

Michael,

I think you just came up the name of the "club, association, whatever" . Gearz Brotherhood has a nice ring to it! Or maybe National Gerarhead Association. Somethig like that.

Sounds good. I like the idea of a laid back get together too. I think if you were gonna do a trophy or something it would have to be for most original ride. I don't know how you would otherwise categorize such an insane variety of vehicles! Gotta have T-shirts though...

I dig it. "National Gearhead Association" does have a nice ring to it.

ZZcowboy - Okay, I didn't mean to step on toes or make an issue about it hehehe!! But, just a general meet with everyone would be cool!! And I should have added that along with my reply earlier but, it slipped hehe!!  Alot of us have meet before and goofed around and it was a great time!! And if we all can organize a central area where ever it maybe to get the whole gang together would really be killer and I'm for it!! Like you said kentucky is a cool place or just a local car shows!!

Okay, this is what I'll do to help this along with us getting together. In the Official Announcement Area I will start a area for Local or regional car shows. And You guys just post car shows and dates and we can start with possibly meeting at the car shows. And of course wearing your Gearheadz Gear!! So, we can find each other or just have a banner hanging somewhere!! So, what ya think about that to help things along??

The response is absolutely incredible! People are even emailing me volunteering their services and folks all over the country have expressed a desire to come to such an event. I have had correspondence with one of the Gearz staff and he is going to bring it up to Stacey! He we let me know something soon. But I am sure there will be lots of details to work out "if" they go for the idea.

Paul, I actually thought about regional meets last night but hadn't pinned it down. As much as I would love to see everyone at once regional would work better for a lot of people. Have to look at the map to figure east, west and mid while considering the populus of members. I originally thought of Kentucky not just because I am there but it was in the center of the highest population. Lets see what the Gear staff say first and I will definately mention your idea. Good thinking!

Cowboy,

I would also like to see it split if possible.I was thinking after posting i want to be their. It would be a pain to trailer the car all that way.I could just drive my truck but you see gmc trucks all the time.I much more like to bring the fiero.

Thanks Jason

TimeTraveller's picture

Yeah Regional meets would be both easier for everyone to get to, and make for much less work to set'em up.

NGA - National Gearhead Association?  I LIKE IT !!!

KT. is a long ways from Wa. state but I'm all for it if we can get one reasonably close. The west coast is a huge place and could mean thousands of miles not hundreds.

The Gearz-Head meeting sounds great, don't make it to political, once you get into an non-profit association (501(3C)) group you must have bylaws, board of directors and an executive staff.  This sometime has a do it my way and a power struggle tagged along withit.  Keep it simple, use this website and be friends. Long distance associations are tuff unless you have chapters and that becomes a management nightmare.  I would plan on attending

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction

TimeTraveller's picture

You are absolutely correct. This should be kept as simple an organization as possible, to cut down on the inevitable politics that come with bylaws. I Like the Gearz-Heads name too.

yes your right, we just need this site be friends, and have a meeting at parks in different parts of the country, now that I have thought about it all this week.

if someone can invent it, you can repair it you, just need to try, Plus maybe have a repair manual

ZZCowboy's picture

I agree, would like to keep it as grass roots as possible. BTW looking at the mapI am thinking now  six areas going by populus concentration;New England, East Coast, Southeast, Central, Northwest and Southest. Still waiting more info.

Cowboy,

those regions sound good. I think the key would be for someone in each region to step up and strt the process of setting up a meet. I would be willing to do so for whatever region I live in....
